Oh, Daniel-san! You all wet behind ear!
Attempting to recreate the immortal tag-team combo of Daniel LaRusso and Mr Miyagi isn’t something that plain and simply should ever ever be done. Unfortunately the know-it-alls of Hollywood, in all their bountiful wisdom have decided to throw a modern day twist on the 1984 classic. The LaRusso character is played by Jaden Smith (Will’s son and of The Pursuit of Happyness fame) and Miyagi is played by Jackie Chan (Legend). Yuck.
Two problems: Most remakes turn out to be pathetic attempts to recapture past successes and pale in comparison to originals, secondly Karate is Japanese when the movie is based in China where Kung Fu is predominantly practiced (Jackie Chan is a Kung Fu master).
