I’m a fan of the 80′s. It did take the 90′s & the 00′s to get there, but time heals all wounds.

While there were quite a number of mistakes made in during this decade (think Ronald Regan) a movie called Jewel of the Nile wasn’t. Well, it was Romancing the Stone which was the good one. Jewel of the Nile had sequel-syndrome.

The two movies were released in 1984 & 85 respectively starred a young Michael Douglas who, if at the time was having any sexual thoughts about his future wife Catherine Zeta-Jones would have been jailed, Kathleen Turner & Danny “was he in every 80′s movie” DeVito. Full of wise cracks, innuendo & sexual energy, the movies were seen by some as a poor man’s Indiana Jones.

Best part of Jewel of the Nile? Billy Ocean’s contribution.

This song, along with Queen’s Headlong were my motivator songs before strapping the rugby boots on for the Newlands Junior Rugby Club’s Under 11′s.
