So I managed to get up to a fashion week to find out what all the fuss is about. I may have a pair of charcoal tight jeans, several cardigans and a few salmon/peach shirts but I still felt a bit out of place – much like an IT specialist without the internet. My first venture was at the Nom D fashion show. It was housed in a shed but it was well suited to the show and fitted the culture well. A smashed up car was one of the props and provided some entertainment for us later on. One key feature of fashion week is the free alcohol. I left the bar with as many beers as I could carry. I soon found out that it wasn’t acceptable behavior. I did try to explain to them that I’m use to drinking with the rugby lads and the frees beers don’t normally last very long.
Having not being there long I was approached by a Gentleman who addressed me as the best looking man in the room and wanted to know where the after party was. I responded “somewhere in Ponsonby bro”,” I think there’s free piss if your keen?” He told me he would think about it and let me know. I later found out that it was Ricardo Simich, he is the man who tells everyone where to go sit at the fashion shows. Super friendly guy I thought, infact you could say that about most of the guys, were very approachable and as I stated earlier super friendly and had very luke warm aura’s (If that makes sense.)
Special mentions go to Samantha Hayes, Petra Bagust and Dane Rumble – I’ve seen you on TV and now I’ve seen you in person. Fashion week I think is now a must do event like the Wellington 7′s, Big day out and Suit day. It’s one of those things you have to at least do once before you die. I think next year I want to do the whole week but in moderation this time – meaning Monday wine, Tuesday dope, Wednesday beer etc. Managed to have a beer with Cory Gonzales, top bloke and a guy that can make you laugh with out even trying.
Ones to watch out for are Juliette Hogan, if you have a Mrs suggest you like her kit and it’s as good as money in the bank. Augustine International by Kelly Coe and Never Black for the lads. Never black is a new bolter in the NZ stables of fashion, A must for like minded males to back in the future.
The best gear and highlights can be viewed at www.huntandseek.com. Come on we’re sick of seeing Canterbury track pants and Adidas hoodie’s… Time to try a little harder, Lift the bar just an inch higher.
Thats fukn fashion
Midget?
That’s all folks. I did think the New Zealand over 60′s  Bowls nationals were on in Wellington in the Weekend, d but it was actually the Wearable Arts Show… grey power came to town that’s fo-show!
