Ah, the 70′s. A decade that was, in it’s own right turbulent. Even after a post-apocalyptic British Invasion of the 60′s, popular music was wrestling with disco. Some of the 60′s legends rolled with it (Sir Elton), others ignored it (Rolling Stones), some rode the wave (The Beegees).

Other musical mainstreams weren’t really sure how to attack it. Perhaps a bit of the old school with a twist of disco? At the same time there was this thing called punk that was slowly getting angry and archaic.

The Spinners were off the Motown production line. Detroit based, these guys had, in various form been around since the late 50′s. Man the stories they could tell….

This wee ditty is called Working My Way Back to You/Forgive Me, Girl. It is an example of classic Motown lead and harmonies, but with the disco fusion (not to mention some very classy suits). The video was taken from an appearance on Soul Train. How awesome is that?! Anyway, happy Monday. Good luck trying not to bop to this you crazy cats.

The video cannot be shown at the moment. Please try again later.
